The effect depends on what you cannot see
Good under-vanity lighting reads as a soft line of light beneath the cabinet. Poorly planned lighting exposes dots, bright spots, cables or a driver that cannot be reached.
The result depends on the LED profile, diffuser, colour, mounting position, shadow gap and the surface below. A strip alone is not a finished lighting detail.
Keep the driver serviceable
The driver is a replaceable electrical component. It should not be permanently trapped behind fixed stone, glued panels or inaccessible cabinetry. Its location and access route need to be coordinated before the cabinet is installed.
Electrical connections and bathroom equipment must be planned and installed by the appropriately qualified professional under the applicable South African requirements. This article is a design-coordination guide, not a DIY wiring instruction.
Decide what the light is for
Under-vanity light can provide a gentle night setting, help the room feel lighter or reveal the floating form of the cabinet. It is not necessarily the main task light at the basin. Mirror and face lighting should be planned separately.
The best detail is quiet, serviceable and proportionate to the vanity rather than visibly announcing the LED technology.
