Protective coatings such as EnduroShield or factory-treated glass can make shower cleaning easier by changing how water and residue behave on the surface. They are useful, but they are not a substitute for good ventilation, sensible cleaning and removing water after use.
Coated glass is not self-cleaning
Minerals, soap and body products can still accumulate. If the coating is cleaned with the wrong chemical or an abrasive pad, its performance may be reduced. The exact care instructions belong with the product handover.
Factory treatment and site application differ
A coating applied during manufacture and a product applied to installed glass may have different warranty conditions, preparation requirements and expected life. Confirm which system is being specified rather than treating all “protective coatings” as equivalent.
Hard water remains in the house
A coating may reduce adhesion, but it does not remove minerals from the incoming water or from the shower spray. If the water is hard, the most effective routine still includes wiping or squeegeeing the glass before deposits dry.
Ask what the warranty covers
Confirm whether the warranty covers application, appearance, cleaning performance or only the coating material. Record the approved cleaning products and the date of application.
Use the coating as part of a care system
Good extraction, replacement air, a squeegee, non-abrasive cleaning and regular inspection will generally do more for the life of the enclosure than a coating considered in isolation.
