Floating furniture still carries real loads
A wall-hung vanity creates a clean line beneath the basin and makes the floor easier to clean. The wall behind it must carry the weight of the cabinet, basin, countertop, fittings and anything stored inside.
The support method depends on the wall construction and the exact vanity. Masonry, drywall and other substrates require different fixing and backing arrangements. The installation should be designed around the manufacturer’s requirements rather than assuming that a standard wall plug is enough.
The basin, tap and drawers must agree
The vanity is part of a group of connected measurements. The basin waste must clear drawers and shelves. A wall-mounted tap needs the right reach and height. The mirror, lights and splash area should be positioned around the actual basin rather than an approximate centre line.
Bottle traps and exposed wastes may be intentional design features, but they still need the correct connection, access and cleaning arrangement. A drawer that blocks the trap turns a clean design into a maintenance problem.
Moisture resistance is not waterproofing
Bathroom cabinetry should be suitable for the expected moisture conditions and installed so water does not sit against vulnerable edges. A moisture-resistant board is not the same as a waterproof box, and no cabinet should be used to hide a leak.
Ventilation, careful sealing and sensible splash management protect the furniture, but they do not replace proper plumbing or wet-area construction.
Plan access before the vanity is fixed
The basin trap, isolation points and flexible connections need to remain serviceable. Before the cabinet is installed, confirm the exact plumbing position and whether the design leaves enough room to inspect or replace components.
The luxury result is not only the floating appearance. It is the fact that the vanity remains stable, dry, usable and maintainable after the installation team has left.
