The temperature number belongs to the exact product
Thermostatic mixers are often described as having a safety stop, but the stop is not a universal setting shared by every manufacturer. The researched examples use different factory or adjustable limits, including 38°C, 40°C and other product-specific values.
That difference matters when a client compares photographs, controls or specifications across brands.
What the safety stop is doing
A thermostatic mixer blends hot and cold water and reacts to changes in supply conditions within the limits of its design. The safety stop limits access to higher temperatures until the user deliberately overrides it.
It is not a substitute for correct installation, hot-water control, pressure balance, clean strainers or commissioning.
Calibration happens after installation
The final water temperature depends on the actual hot supply, cold supply, pressure balance, pipework and cartridge condition. A mixer can therefore require calibration after installation even when the correct product was selected.
The installer should follow the exact product manual and record the final setting where appropriate.
Do not mix the numbers between brands
Hansgrohe, AXOR, GROHE and VADO use different product platforms and documentation. A temperature stated for one thermostat should not be copied into an article, quotation or handover sheet for another.
The correct questions are:
- What is the exact SKU?
- What is the manufacturer’s safety-stop setting?
- Is the stop adjustable?
- What hot-water and pressure conditions does the manual require?
- How is the mixer calibrated after commissioning?
The luxury result is not the number printed on the handle. It is stable, safe and repeatable temperature control under the conditions in the actual bathroom.
