A clean-looking bathroom can still have dirty pipework
Construction debris, sealant fragments and particles from altered pipework can travel into a mixer after the walls and tiles look finished. The vulnerable parts are often the cartridge, thermostat, aerator, non-return valve or small filter.
That is why manufacturer installation documents commonly require pipework to be flushed and may specify strainers or filters.
Commissioning should protect the fitting
Flush the system using the manufacturer’s installation sequence before connecting or commissioning the final fitting. Check the exact product manual because the required method and components vary between ecosystems.
Do not assume a flush performed for one outlet proves that every branch feeding a concealed shower is clean.
Keep evidence with the handover
Record the product SKU, the installed filters or strainers, the commissioning date and any service instructions. If a cartridge later becomes stiff or an aerator loses flow, this information helps separate a product issue from a supply contamination issue.
Premium fittings deserve premium commissioning. The visible finish is protected by work that happens before the first shower.
