A large freestanding bath can hold far more water than a standard tub, so the filler’s flow rate becomes part of the user experience. A beautiful bath that takes too long to fill may be used less often than expected.
Flow rate is product-specific
The advertised flow rate depends on the exact filler, outlet, pressure and plumbing arrangement. Do not assume that every floor-mounted or wall-mounted bath mixer fills at the same speed.
Pressure affects the real result
The water pressure available at the bathroom, the pipe size, simultaneous use elsewhere in the home and the hot/cold balance can all change performance. A showroom demonstration may not represent the installation at home.
The spout must reach correctly
A high-flow filler still needs the right projection and height. The water should enter the bath cleanly without striking the rim, splashing onto the floor or creating excessive noise.
Check the hot-water plan
A fast filler does not solve a shortage of hot water. The bath capacity, household geyser, mixing temperature and recovery time should be considered with the selected mixer.
Commission before handover
Test the actual bath and filler together. Check fill time, temperature stability, splash, waste discharge and the operation of any hand shower before the product is signed off.
