The slab yard, fabricator and renovator do different jobs
Choosing a luxury stone surface is not a single purchase. The client selects or approves the material, the slab yard presents the available range, the fabricator turns the slab into measured pieces, and the renovator coordinates those pieces with the bathroom construction.
The best result comes from bringing those decisions together early.
A catalogue is the beginning, not the final promise
Supplier websites and catalogues are useful for discovering marble, onyx, quartzite, travertine and engineered surfaces. They do not prove that a particular slab is currently on a Durban shelf or that enough matching material exists for the complete design.
The actual slab or bundle should be viewed, photographed and reserved where appropriate. The supplier’s current stock and lead time should be confirmed before a client is promised a product.
The fabricator needs final information
Before cutting, the fabricator needs accurate measurements, wall and floor build-up, basin and mixer positions, niches, glass junctions, edge details, seams and the desired vein direction.
The renovator also needs to know when the waterproofing, substrates and finished surfaces will be ready for measurement. Measuring too early can create a beautiful drawing that does not fit the room that was actually built.
The installation team protects the final result
Large pieces require a safe route, correct handling, suitable support and a compatible bonding system. The slab is not the waterproofing membrane, and the finished surface should not be used to conceal unresolved plumbing or substrate problems.
