A bath tray or side table can turn a freestanding bath into a more comfortable place to use, but it should not interfere with the filler, overflow, cleaning or safe entry. Small accessories deserve the same spatial discipline as large fixtures.
Keep the rim clear
A tray should not block the overflow, sit across a fragile edge or become a place where water collects against the bath finish. Confirm the actual rim width and curve before choosing one.
A side table needs stable support
The table should not rock on a wet floor or create a sharp corner beside the bath. Its material must tolerate humidity, splashing and cleaning, especially in a coastal KZN bathroom.
Do not obstruct the filler
Books, candles and toiletries should not block the mixer controls or hand shower. The position should allow the bath to be filled, cleaned and serviced without moving a collection of objects first.
Design for the room, not the photograph
Open space around a bath can look beautiful but become awkward if the user has nowhere to put a towel or step safely. A considered table may improve the experience; several loose accessories may simply add visual noise.
