Ordinary mirror can show a colour cast
The glass used to make a mirror can influence the reflected image. Standard glass may introduce a slight green cast, particularly where the edge is visible or where colour accuracy matters around a vanity.
Low-iron or specialist mirror glass can produce a cleaner, more neutral reflection.
Optimirror is not the same name as every variant
Pilkington Optimirror is a product family. Optimirror OW is a specific low-iron, extra-clear variant within that family. It is therefore inaccurate to describe every Optimirror product as though it has the exact optical characteristics of Optimirror OW. The manufacturer’s current product sheet should identify the precise variant, thickness, backing and intended application.
The glass does not solve installation problems
A premium mirror can still develop edge damage if water reaches the backing, the adhesive is incompatible, the wall is damp or the room is poorly ventilated. Product selection and installation have to be considered together.
The mirror is a system, not simply a shiny sheet.
Ask for the exact product information
When a premium mirror is proposed, record the manufacturer, product name, thickness, backing, edge treatment, intended application and installation requirements. Do not assume that a visually similar mirror has the same protection or warranty conditions.
Quality is visible every day
The mirror is often the surface viewed most closely in the bathroom. Better glass can support a more accurate reflection, but the final result still depends on the flatness of the wall, lighting, mounting and care.
