Installation is not the same as commissioning
The trim can be fitted neatly while the shower still needs its final checks. Thermostatic control depends on the hot-water temperature, cold-water supply, pressure balance, pipe cleanliness, strainers and the condition of the cartridge.
The final setting should be confirmed using the manufacturer’s procedure for that exact thermostat.
What can affect the result
An obstruction in a strainer, debris left in the pipework, an imbalanced hot and cold supply or a water-heating system that cannot maintain temperature can all change the experience at the outlet.
This is why a client’s statement that “the house has good pressure” does not complete the commissioning process.
Record what was done
For a premium bathroom, keep the product manual, SKU, rough-in platform, final temperature setting and any service information with the handover records. If a future technician cannot identify the thermostat or its cartridge, a small adjustment can become an expensive investigation.
Commissioning should also confirm that the outlets selected by the diverter match the intended functions and that the user can operate them without confusion.
The finished control should feel simple because the technical work behind it was completed and documented properly.
