When a cistern is behind a wall, identifying the correct part later can be difficult unless the project handover is complete. A parts record turns a hidden system into a maintainable product.
Record the complete assembly
Include the frame, cistern, flush valve, fill valve, actuator, flush plate, pan, seat, waste connection, insulation and any odour-extraction or electronic components.
Keep model and finish codes
The same brand may have different internal parts across ranges and years. Record model numbers, finish codes, installation date, supplier and installer rather than relying on a photograph of the flush plate.
Explain the access route
The owner should know how the flush plate is removed, what can be cleaned, which parts are consumable and who should perform repairs. A service opening is useful only when its purpose is understood.
Warranty belongs in the record
Keep the installation instructions, warranty conditions, approved cleaning products and supplier contact details with the product information.
Good documentation is inexpensive compared with opening a tiled wall because a valve or plate cannot be identified.
