A compact wall-hung WC can make a small bathroom feel more open because the cistern is concealed and the floor remains visible. The pan still projects into the room, and a shorter model may change comfort, waste alignment and frame compatibility.
Measure the complete projection
Include the prewall, board, tile, pan, seat and any lid or service clearance. A compact ceramic that looks small in a catalogue can have a different installed projection once the wall build-up is included.
Do not sacrifice comfort for a number
Check the internal pan length, seat position and user needs. A few centimetres saved at the wall can make a noticeable difference to adults using the room every day.
Door and basin clearance
Draw the door swing, basin projection and WC projection together. A compact pan may solve one conflict while creating another at the entrance or opposite vanity.
Frame and pan must match
The selected ceramic, carrier, waste connection and flush plate need to be compatible. A compact pan is not a universal replacement for a standard pan.
